Why Business Development Part 2

BY: Joel D. Williams Post 2 of 7

Business Development is people focused. If you know me at all, you know that I like being with people. There is nothing better for me than sitting down in the nearest Starbucks and chatting with friends new and old. If I am not careful, I will spend all day talking to you and socializing over my favorite cup of coffee, the Pumpkin Spice Latte. Being in a position that relies on relationships and teams, I am never happier than meeting new people and forming teams.

Through relationships, opportunities are identified, refined and high-performing teams developed. Relationships lead to well-defined team formations, which leverage the strengths of individual contributors and build up the capabilities of the whole. Through these relationships trust is formed, and this is the basis of all my decisions. With trusted partners, the ability to rapidly respond to government requirements is enabled. These relations are really the foundations of a successful proposal and better yet, a successful award. When trust is established, our focus is rapidly focused on developing innovative solutions rather than laborious legal documents.
