The DS TAT team and program need a Software Developer with a strong background in JAVA (back end more than front-end) development. DS TAT is Defense Systems Technical Area Tasks and is an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) program for Research & Development (R&D) and/or Advisory & Assistance Services related to R&D efforts. It includes the following focus areas of interest: • Advanced Materials • Autonomous Systems  • Directed Energy  • Energetics  • Military Sensing  • Non-Lethal Weapons and Information Operations  • Reliability, Maintainability, Quality, Supportability, and Interoperability  • Survivability and Vulnerability  • Weapons Systems



  • Plan and execute lifecycle computer software and hardware development and management for the assigned computer-based system(s) including Tactical Machine Foreign Language Translation System (MFLTS)
  • Develop software applications, manage software development processes, assist in preparing test plans, develop test tools, and conduct testing using state of the art computer software techniques, tools, and practices
  • Define, investigates and develops techniques and approaches in software engineering, and computer architecture of supported programs and systems
  • Develop software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with the user and studying systems flow in the software development lifecycle
  • Provide computer technology support to the engineering functions of supported programs for the operational software of such systems
  • Evaluate design implications of system security requirements and environment so that resultant system designs, and their support, resist established or projected threat
  • Work independently or as part of a team to build and integrate systems and applications
  • Collaborate with high-performing, cross-functional team members on site and remotely able of logical reasoning and analysis
  • Design, develop, and test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software applications and sets operational specifications and formulate and analyze software requirements. 



  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science,  or other Engineering or Technical discipline is preferred. Additional experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
  • Strong background in JAVA (back end more than front-end) development
  • Skill in Software design includes a background in some of the following Operating Systems and tools:
  • Java, C++, C#, .NET, Python, HTML5, XML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP/MySQL, SQL, PL/SQL, Red Hat, Linux, Windows (XP/Vista/7) VMWare, Eclipse, JDeveloper, Oracle SQL Developer, MS Visual Studio, MS Project.
